The Bruker UltrafleXtreme MALDI-TOF offers new possibilities with regard to the identification of chemical composition (monomeric units and end-groups), branching and chemical topology in the field of polymer analysis. The characteristic high mass resolution and high mass accuracy across a wide mass range can provide molecular structure information of oligomers, prepolymers and polymers (> 750 g/mol). As the sample preparation for this technique is fast, it is a fast and valuable first-line screening tool in polymer synthesis. All of these characteristics are also available in the imaging-mode of the instrument and will provide similar spatially resolved information across a wide sample area.
